The wind energy industry is undergoing a process of growing industrialization. An increased global competition and the ongoing loss of state subsidy together with a development towards major competitive-oriented market regulations pose great challenges for the wind energy industry. Therefore, wind energy industry needs to develop to become a technically matured, cost-efficient industry with an optimised network.
The VDMA Power Transmission Engineering association supports its members as a platform for targeted exchange of special technical topics. In its working groups best-practice guidelines are elaborated which reflect the general opinion of the sector and thus contribute to an improved communication between component suppliers and OEM. With our activities we are members of the working group on wind energy industry within the VDMA.
The Plain Bearings in Wind Turbine Transmissions working group is developing the requirements for plain bearings in wind turbine main transmissions while taking into account the state of the art of technical developments and best practice.
The Reliability of Wind Turbine Transmissions working group is concerned with the development of an appropriate and generally applicable calculation method for the system reliability of main transmissions.
The Cold Climate Version working group of the Power Transmission Engineering association is working on the VDMA standard 23901 entitled “Components and Systems for Wind Turbines in a Cold Environment”.
